Terence Blanchard Earns First Oscar Nomination For BlacKkKlansman

As a five-time GRAMMY winner, an EMMY nominee, and composer for over 30 film scores, Terence Blanchard earns his first OSCAR nomination for the original score for 2018’s Spike-Lee-directed, BlacKkKlansman.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled the nominees for the 91st Academy Awards on January 22. Blanchard’s work is nominated in the category of Music (Original Score) with fellow nominees are Ludwig Goransson for Black Panther; Nicholas Britell for If Beale Street Could Talk; Alexandre Desplat for Isle of Dogs; and Marc Shaiman for Mary Poppins Returns.

Some 30 years after the release of his first feature film, legendary director Spike Lee earned his first Oscar nomination for best director and his first nomination for best picture. BlacKkKlansman earned six Oscar nominations overall.
